EASTVILLE — Indiantown Park greeted 23 Disc Golf players Feb. 24 to a mild 48 degree day to play Eastern Shore Ice Bowl 2013.
This event, in its 8th year on the Shore, is planned help others who are hungry and in need.
The disc golf action had a strong gusting wind at times to help make the disc fly the way they wanted to, instead of how the player wanted.
From Disc Golf Hall of Fame member to first time player the field of 23 had a great round of disc golf for a even greater cause the Eastern Shore Food Bank.
Indiantown Disc Golf sent $336 and 108 pounds of food to the food bank with hope that it helps.
After 20 holes (baskets) of disc golf, the mens winner was Don Fogle of Hacks Neck shooting a 58 just ahead of Captian Snap with a 59; the women’s winner was Rhonda LeCato of Belle Haven, shooting a 77 with Jerri Jackson shooting a 81.
Also taking a ice bowl of her own was Jessica Tolbert with highest score of the day with a 109.
Thanks to the 23 players who ranged from Richmond to Virginia Beach and Norfolk, as well as the Shore for giving time and money to a great cause, and thanks to Northampton County Parks and Recreation for help with the prizes.
